RUMBLING AND BELCHING
In The Wizard of Oz, while others
want to be Dorothy getting a new home,
even an old one, or the Lion
getting courage, I’m Auntie Em--
I can’t tell Almira what I really think.
Perhaps I’m a volcano, a pebble blocking
my spout. Churn the lava enough
and up goes the explosion--how good
it feels after years of being thwarted
by a pebble, years of rumbling
and belching.
